Well, this isn't a sign you see often when you're going out to eat, but it's exactly the one you'll see when you head over to Medieval Times in Orlando, Florida (there are other castles around the US and one in Canada, as well) to have dinner and a show! Walk through the area to see relics from the past, and instantly feel transformed to another time. We did that after dinner, and it's free to go, and on-site, so you can just walk over after you eat. I recommend it highly. As for the dinner, well I recommend that too, especially if you have kids!

When you first come in, you'll be assigned to a team. That is the section you will sit in throughout the dinner and show, and your area will root for a certain contender! Before you get inside though, speakers and actors from the show will go to the top of this two-story platform and get patrons riled up for the big fight that will take place inside. When it's time for dinner, you will ascend the stairs seen on the right, and travel to your seat.
Even the walk along the way is entertaining, with big murals painted on the wall and suits of armor on display.
Once you are seated with the others on your team (or the color you are cheering on in the arena), the show will begin. A waitress/waiter will come around and take your order.
Announcements are made when royalty enters the room.
Processions and shows of skill are also put on display, not to mention you get to watch these gorgeous horses which are an absolute joy to see.
Dinner is served on Medieval Times solid dishware. You can get the vegetarian meal, served in a pot,
Or a piping-hot, chicken dinner with corn and herb-roasted potatoes. Soup is served as an appetizer (a veggie plate with hummus is an appetizer for the vegetarian meal). Both meals come with select beverages.
The show itself is pretty spectacular, with competitive jousting, steel on steel fighting, and so much more. If you look into the background, you can see that everyone is also given a crown of their own to wear while they spectate.
Dessert is served on a plate, and coffee is optional. No silverware is given from start to finish, unless you get the vegetarian pot.
The crowd goes wild during the show, screaming and cheering for their team, and waving their flags. The players feed off of the support. All in all, it is a really fun show.
With only one victor left at the end to please the queen, the show is a real crowd pleaser.
You can buy the basic package, which is fun in and of itself, or you can upgrade to bigger packages. There are also opportunities to get your photo taken with the king. If you are looking for great vacation ideas, and a lot of us will be with summer break fast approaching, be sure to book the dinner and tournament at Medieval Times. It is a show the kids (and adults alike) will love.
Merchandise, beverages, knighting packages, and announcements (birthday, anniversary, etc.) are also available for purchase at the castle.
