Experience North America's most popular dinner attraction! Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament is a live action two-hour dinner and show. Guests cheer for six brave Knights as they compete in various games of skill, view authentic jousting matches and swordfights in an attempt to win the tournament. This amazing entertainment experience is a memory that will be remembered for years.
Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament is one of my children’s favorite places to visit. We are very fortunate that there is a Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament location near our home here in the Chicago suburbs. Because of the wonderfully near location, I have been able to take my children here for well over a decade now! There is not one single aspect of the Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament that my children don’t enjoy.
Disclosure: I received complimentary general admission tickets to visit Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament in order to facilitate this review. I paid for all upgrades myself. All opinions are 100% my own.
Medieval Times is based upon authentic medieval history and is the true story of a noble family with documentation dating back to the 11th Century. Medieval Times began with two entertainment complexes located in Majorca and Benidorm, Spain. The first North American Castle opened in Kissimmee, Florida in December 1983 and has been entertaining guests ever since.
Experience the New Show | Tickets 40% OFF Adults/20% OFF Kids - May not be combined with any other offer or group rate. Tax, gratuity and applicable fees are additional. Upgrades are additional. Not valid on prior purchases. Valid at all castles for shows through 9/30/2019. For the first time in Medieval Times' 35-year history, a Queen has taken the throne. Her Majesty Dona Maria Isabella presides over a tournament of knights who gather in celebration to test their skill against one another in a series of games, jousting, and combat.
The new story brings a series of changes to the show including new costumes, custom-designed and handmade armor, fight scenes, and musical score composed by Dr. Daniel May, who directed and recorded the composition in Kiev with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. Be among the first to experience the debut of our new show.

The Medieval Times castle opens 75 minutes prior to every showtime, so there is ample time to view all the castle has to offer! I highly recommend taking advantage of this extra time and allow yourself and your children enough time to view and enjoy the Museum of Torture, the Hall of Arms and the horses. There will also be the opportunity to see the castle falcon and speak with the Royal Falconer (handler).
In addition, you can enjoy speciality drinks, purchase souvenirs and see some knights or princess become knights. The Museum of Torture is an add-on feature available in the castle prior to the dinner and tournament that I personally think is a NOT TO BE MISSED! The Hall of Arms showcases authentic medieval artifacts.
We were sitting in the RED KNIGHT section. Be prepared to step back in time and experience spectacular horsemanship, phenomenal swordplay, various games of skill, and authentic jousting between 6 different knights of the realm. The 6 Medieval Times knights are all vying for the title of the Queen’s Champion as competition unfolds when courageous knights battle one another in games of skill: a ring pierce, a flag toss, and a javelin throw.
The battle tournaments are held throughout dinner and guests cheer on their favorite knights based on the colored seating sections. Knights will excel using swords, lances, albarda and maces, all the while wearing MIddle Age armor. Be sure to get your banners and shouting voices ready! You may even be a lucky guest and receive a kissed flower from your special knight. My daughters always HOPE they receive a flower.
I happen to think the main reason my son still loves to visit Medieval Times with us is the delicious Bill of Fare. He loves the entire meal and usually eats half of his sister’s plate as well. Each section has their very own Medieval Times server who brings the royal feast. The full four-course, meal is served in the Medieval manner: utensil FREE.
The meal includes: Garlic Bread, Dragon's Blood Soup(ie: Tomato Bisque Soup), Baby Cooked Dragon (ie: Oven Roasted Chicken), Herb-Roasted Potato, Sweet Buttered Corn, and a dessert of the Castle. Also included are select Non-Alcoholic Beverages. There is a full-service bar available pre-show, during and post-show. Vegetarian meals are available upon request.
I have had a long time adoration for horses since I grew up in rural Iowa and had my very own horse. My daughters have taken horse riding lessons on and off for the past decade as well. Simply put, we adore horses and love to view the equine entertianment at Medieval Times.
There are quarter horses, the regal Friesians and the beautiful Andalusian horses, which are the stars during each show that perform intricate dressage movements and amazing capriole (ie: An upward leap made by a trained horse without going forward and with a backward kick of the hind legs at the height of the leap) .
We decided to visit Medieval Times on a very cold snowy day for the perfect family fun night! It way the perfect way to spend a cold afternoon here in Chicago! Actually, I don’t think you really need a special accasion to visit Medieval Times, but the Medieval Times castle is the best place to celebrate any special occasion! Schedule all date nights, anniversaries, graduations, birthday parties, holiday parties, and quinceañeras, corporate events and tour groups, school field trips and scouting troop events are also available with special matinees AND educational downloads.
